Russ Bassett History
In 1958, Russ Bassett purchased the Whittier Typewriter Company and began also selling office furnitureretail.
In October of 1960, Russ Bassett incorporated the Russ Bassett Company to manufacture simple
desk-top organizers for the office furniture industry locally.
Over the years, Whittier Typewriter became Bassett Office Furniture and then Bassett Business Interiors.
Today it operates as Tangram Interiors, one of the largest Steelcase dealers on the west coast.
On the manufacturing side, Russ Bassett Company has continually adapted to the market place with new
products from media cabinets, Gemtrac, and Ractrac to mission critical Desience Consoles.
Today, the company has just celebrated its 50th year in business and looking forward to our next 50
years.
